[If Pepper looks out her window, she will see the great white, armored wolf that is Hila. The wolf herself seems unharmed, but her fur is splattered with dark red.]

[Almost as soon as Pepper spots Hila - and the blood - she's bolting out of her room and down the stairs, bursting outside without bothering to shut the door behind her.]


Oh my god, what happened? Where's Valdis, is she okay? Are you okay?

[Hila dipped her head.]

Aside from my pride, and a few bruises, I am uninjured. Valdis is with Raine now, I have faith that the Healer will know what to do about the intruder.

[That's a relief, but it's also not very comforting.]

The-- the intruder?

The unknown darkness within the ritual chamber. The Void and I tried to repel it, but could not. It seems that its attack was broken when the Void killed her,
but a fragment may still remain.

[There was a slightly bitter tone to the ka's mention of the Void.]

...she went into the ritual chamber from the palace ruins. [Pepper is not pleased by this development.] I'll save asking why for her. I'm not seeing why you're here talking to me, though. I'm not exactly trained in exorcism.

[Hila seemed taken aback, her tail dropped and her head lowered]

Because you are a duelist and her friend, and I do not trust the other one.

[The wolf began to fade]

It seems my time is up.

[This is really not the time to start panicking, even if Pepper feels a little like doing exactly that. Things have gone quite suddenly sideways in a manner she doesn't understand. She doesn't even know what she's being asked to do.]

Okay, I'll-- I'll do what I can. Vee can go back and forth more easily than you right now; if you need to tell me anything else, she can pass the message along.
